I agree, they made the decision to leave and were never in danger — it just shows a lack of professionalism by Mckinnes who deep down knew they bottled it from a position of strength (own it Derek) come back bigger better and mentally stronger and go again next season
The fallout from Saturday has been absolutely incredible. Rangers and Hearts fans are now demanding Celtic forfeit the title all because fans ran onto the pitch after full-time.
Now don’t get me wrong — I think anyone who runs onto the pitch is an idiot. But in moments of that magnitude, with the title on the line and emotions at boiling point, people unfortunately lose the head.
What I will say though is this: Hearts had every opportunity to wait in the tunnel area until the pitch was cleared, which didn’t even take that long, and then come back out to play the remaining 30–40 seconds they are all suddenly desperate to talk about now.
But they didn’t.
Derek McInnes and his players went straight down the tunnel, straight onto the bus and out the stadium in a huff. They clearly had no intention of returning to play those remaining seconds.
So this narrative that “Hearts wanted to continue the match” is complete nonsense. If they truly wanted the game restarted, they could have easily waited until the pitch dispersed and played it out.
Instead, they chose to leave the building like children throwing the toys out the pram.
The more they scream for forfeits and investigations, the more embarrassing they’re making themselves look. 🍀
