Last week, Chief Davis joined the Barton Hills Neighborhood Association (BHNA) community meeting on January 27. She provided a detailed update on APD’s ongoing response following the officer-involved shooting in Zilker Park 6 (six) months ago. Thank you to everyone who came to ask questions and stay engaged with local safety. Keeping our neighborhoods informed and addressing community concerns directly has always been one of our top priorities. ....

APD Chief Lisa Davis honored our top-performing officers of 2025 for their tireless dedication to our community. Officer Model (George 200s): 2,300 calls Officer Maldonado (Ida 200s): 2,400 calls Officer Frierson (Adam 100s): 3,201 total incident calls These numbers represent more than just data—they represent thousands of moments where these officers answered the call to protect and serve. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to Austin’s safety. The badge is more than a uniform—it’s a commitment to our community. If you see yourself in this mission, join us at APDRecruiting.org.

Our crews have been responding to multiple collisions due to icy roads. Last night, a patrol vehicle with an officer inside was struck by a pickup that lost control. Thankfully, everyone is safe. Please stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency—for everyone’s safety.
