Last week, Chief Davis joined the Barton Hills Neighborhood Association (BHNA) community meeting on January 27. She provided a detailed update on APD’s ongoing response following the officer-involved shooting in Zilker Park 6 (six) months ago. Thank you to everyone who came to ask questions and stay engaged with local safety. Keeping our neighborhoods informed and addressing community concerns directly has always been one of our top priorities. .... Yesterday, we celebrated the promotion of Christopher Juusola to Commander. Commander Juusola has been with APD since 2007, serving in a variety of roles. I’m excited to see his leadership continue to grow as he leads the men and women of our department and serves our community.

This morning we celebrated the promotion of David Shand to Commander! With years of experience across APD, his leadership will continue to be a strong example for our department and our community he serves.

Congratulations to APD Commander Branden Kunkel, who we celebrated during a recent pinning ceremony. Commander Kunkel brings more than 26 years of law enforcement experience, and I look forward to the great things he will do as a commander while continuing to serve our community.

Our crews have been responding to multiple collisions due to icy roads. Last night, a patrol vehicle with an officer inside was struck by a pickup that lost control. Thankfully, everyone is safe. Please stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency—for everyone’s safety.
