I applaud the hard work and thoughtfulness that went into this. There is much to learn from this report on what happens to taxpayers, workers, public health and communities when an oil refinery closes and how to plan for it. As Chair of EQ, I am mindful of the challenges we face as we move away from fossil fuels and toward a clean energy future.
We’re preparing for a future beyond oil. As oil refineries close, we need decision makers to step up to protect residents, workers, & local economies. Lawmakers have a choice: let Big Oil and developers exploit this moment, or guide the transition.
