BREAKING NEWS OUT OF AMES!!๐
The Aplington-Parkersburg FFA Livestock Evaluation Team are STATE CHAMPIONS and will be heading to compete at the 99th National FFA Convention this October!
These four young individuals judged nine sets of livestock, three sets of keep/cull classes, and completed four sets of oral reasons in Ames today.
In Team Scoring:
High Team in Beef
2nd High Team in Reasons
3rd High Team in Swine
12th High Team in Sheep
Individual Scoring:
Kamie Helmke - Top 1/3rd in Reasons, Top 1/2 Overall.
Caylee Harken - 22nd High Individual, 25th in Reasons 25th in Beef.
Sam Janssen - 3rd High Individual, 1st in Swine, 2nd in Reasons, 2nd in Beef.
Owen Price - 6th High Individual, 3rd in Beef, 17th in Reasons.
This is something these students have been chasing and working towards for a long time. It is only done with the VILLAGE of people who are standing behind them. All of these members are avid show kids and have been working with livestock their entire lives. This was a very special day to watch it all pay off!
Thank you to the Iowa FFA Association and Livestock Judging committee for coordinating and organizing the contest. Very appreciative of Will Taylor and the Iowa State University Livestock Judging Team for putting the classes together and taking reasons!
Next up is preparation for Nationals!

Due to impending storms in the forecast, Thursdayโs scheduled State Soccer Tournament Semifinal matches for all three classes have been postponed to Friday.
Tickets that have already been purchased for Thursday will be honored for Friday, however refunds will not be issued for ticket holders who are unable to attend Fridayโs matches.
Additional updates will be posted on the IGHSAU website and IGHSAU social media channels.

The game will now be played tomorrow at 10:00 AM.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders celebrated their Trimester 3 growth in reading and math at todayโs assembly! A few students also earned the special โWillow Kindnessโ award for being leaders in and out of the classroom. Way to finish the year strong, Falcons!
