This thread may be my swansong to eduTwitter. It’s dead. We all know it’s dead. There are lots of reasons for this, and I’ll write about them at some point, probably on substack. 15 years ago this was the agora for a conversation about a fundamental reformation of education.

Sam is absolutely right... but I think it is an unintentional straw man. I don't know anyone who treats ordinary experiences as trauma. I think a good analogue is looking at Pupil Premium or Reading Strategies. We know that the amount students are read to impacts long term 1/9
Disproportionately treating ordinary childhood experiences as trauma will ultimately do children a major disservice as they grow up.

... misrepresenting TIP can allow it to be more easily disregarded. Finally, I think that effective TIP strategies are more costly and difficult to implement. This means there is incentive for those in control of the purse strings to undermine a TIP position. 8/9

(QT to allow a thread, not for nefarious reasons!) I think it is a reality that a restorative school will not attain the same P8 as trad/ behaviourist schools. This is baked for a few reasons, including a general preference for broader curriculum, an attempt to keep more on roll
