Rogue employee at @UPS My Choice support wasn't listening and didn't like my pointing that out, so she went silent—breathing into the phone but ignoring me—for >10 mins. Having just spent 15 mins trying to get through to a human, I wasn't hanging up; she did. Zero accountability.

Congratulations to @Upwork on their IPO! It's not only a fantastic business built by great people---it also creates economic opportunities around the 🌎, making it a powerful force for overcoming the unfairness of geography & birth. It's an inspiration. techcrunch.com/2018/10/03/up…

Another great workshop at #HCOMP2018: Subjectivity, Ambiguity, and Disagreement in #Crowdsourcing (#SAD2018) by @laroyo & @cawelty sadworkshop.wordpress.com/ Their publication @HCjnl on "The Three Sides of CrowdTruth" is definitely worth checking out too: bit.ly/HCj-CrowdTruth

Searching Google Scholar for «late homework policies» just returns a bunch of random course syllabi. Surely somebody has studied this right?
28 Jul 2017
Is there any research about late policies in undergrad courses? Does accepting late homework reinforce bad habits—or reward persistence?

Has there been any decision on an #HCOMP2016 deadline? The @HCOMP_conf web site has been inaccessible lately.

@TurkerNational Yes. I also suspect some selection bias: bad instructions ➜ bad results ➜ novice requesters give up ➜ only pros remain.

@TurkerNational We had workers rate existing instructions from different requesters. Oddly, they didn't find many problems. I'm perplexed.

Where can I find examples of BAD #MTurk task instructions? ("Bad" = unclear, ambiguous, overly verbose, etc.)

After hearing about Paul Volcker's exposed ankles on @PlanetMoney, I bought 12 pair of size 15 black boot socks (knee high). Problem solved!

Replying to @jeffbigham
Papers on broad topics or with crisp, easily generalizable conclusions are cited more. Systems papers are the opposite. @jeffbigham @landay
