TRAGIC DEATH : SOMTOCHUKWU CHRISTELLE MADUAGWU December 26, 1995 - September 29, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that the management and staff of the ARISE News Channel announce the passing of our beloved colleague, News Anchor, Reporter and Producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu. Sommie tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025 following an armed robbery incident in her residence in Katampe area of Abuja that is being investigated by the Nigeria Police. Sommie, 29, was not only a cherished member of the ARISE News family but also a vibrant voice that engaged and connected with our viewers. Beyond the airwaves, Sommie was a lawyer who was a professional and supportive colleague and a friend to many. We extend our deepest condolences to Sommie’s parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time. Sommie’s voice is now silent but her spirit, passion and legacy will endure as part of our collective memory. We remain in shock and call for a speedy investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the culprits. Hadiza Usman-Ajayi For Management

The Military And Presidency Should End Empty Condemnations And Take Action - TieTie There are things that can be done which are not rocket science, yet little is being done about them while leaders continue to make reassuring statements. I would urge the President to look at recent history under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan. Obasanjo was firm and proactive in addressing insecurity, and there was a strong sense of state authority. People feared the Nigerian state because they believed there would be consequences for wrongdoing, and that sense of accountability was clearly present. Frank TieTie, Lawyer/Arise Analyst

Gov. Adeleke Has Thrown Osun State Into Chaos - Omowaiye It is unacceptable for a government to award a 100 billion naira airport project to an interior designer, while a major road project is given to a company registered as a clearing and forwarding agent, and a flyover is awarded to a company registered as a fertilizer supplier. There is also no need for another airport when neighbouring states already have airports that are not even viable, and it makes no sense to abandon the one the previous governor worked on just to start another one. Oluremi Omowaiye, Head Of Media And Publicity Committee, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council

Abdulsalami Abubakar Handled Nigeria's Leadership With Dexterity — Obasanjo I remember you telling me on telephone, our man is dead, Who is our man I asked, I screamed when you mentioned M.K.O Abiola. Following advice, you handled Abiola’s demise dexterously and within a year of your installment, we had democracy restored. 27 years after that restoration, we still have democracy. Olusegun Obasanjo Former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria

Abdulsalami Abubakar Deserves Credit For Stabilising Democracy In Nigeria — Jonathan I know of a president, when it was time to leave because of certain circumstances and his wife said no we are not going and he caved in and the rest is a very ugly history. We must commend Abdulsalami Abubakar for his integrity. Goodluck Jonathan Former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria

The death Of Major General Rabe Abubakar Is An Indescribable Pain - TieTie This is a Major General, a two-star officer who served the country at the highest level. This raises serious concerns about the state of national security. There is now an unusual sense of solidarity among citizens and members of the armed forces, with expectations that the best resources would be deployed to rescue one of their most senior officers. General Rabe Abubakar represented a key face of the Nigerian military at the time. This is not about blaming individuals, but a reflection of a broader national security concern. Gov. Oborevwori Made It Clear That The President’s Economic Reforms Have Delivered Results - Aniagwu He also believes that several states have become not only solvent but financially stronger, enabling them to address many of the challenges facing their citizens. He recalled a time when pensioners were unpaid, workers' salaries were delayed, infrastructure projects were stalled, and local government councils struggled due to inadequate funding. According to him, because of the economic re-engineering introduced by the President, many of these challenges have now become a thing of the past. Hon. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Commissioner For Works & Public Information, Delta State

Kwankwaso Never Threatened To Leave The NDC, It Was Only Media Speculation - Director This appears to be an attempt to demarket the party, and we understand where it is coming from. Apart from media speculation and those who do not want us to succeed, there were instances in a particular constituency in Delta State where an incumbent allegedly supported five or six aspirants to run against Collins Edema. Osa Director, National Publicity Secretary, Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC
