A woman confesses to her diet group that she has put on weight, despite the doctor having stressed the importance that she lose weight. “I made my family’s favorite cake over the weekend,” she says to the group, “and they ate half of it at dinner.
The next day, I kept staring at the other half until I finally weakened and cut myself a thin slice. Well, I’m ashamed to say that once I got the taste, there was no stopping me. One slice led to another, and soon the whole remaining half was gone. I was ashamed of my lack of willpower, and I knew my husband and children would be bitterly disappointed in me, my doctor as well, but I couldn’t stop myself.”
“What did they say when they found out?” says the group leader gently.
“Oh, they never found out,” says the woman. “I made another cake and ate half!”
