Indian Army and Aseem Foundation Illuminate Seemari Village With Solar Power & Clean Energy

Srinagar, 12 April: In a landmark initiative reflecting the spirit of inclusive development and national service, Seemari village in Karnah Valley, located along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir, has been fully electrified and enabled with clean cooking solutions through the combined efforts of the Indian Army’s Vajr Division and Aseem Foundation, under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
Seemari, a border village of strategic significance and home to India's Polling Booth No. 1, has long struggled with limited access to electricity and primitive cooking methods. Notably, one half of the village lies in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, highlighting its geopolitical and democratic importance.
Today, thanks to this pathbreaking collaboration, 53 households in Seemari have been equipped with solar microgrids and LPG kits, marking a significant uplift in the standard of living for its residents.
The project has been dedicated to the memory of Colonel Santosh Mahadik, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty. As a tribute, the solar electrification system will be jointly inaugurated on April 14, 2025, by Mrs. Kalinda Mahadik (mother of Col Mahadik), Commander Tangdhar Brigade, and Mr. Sarang Gosavi, Founder and MD of Aseem Foundation.
The inauguration will be attended by a large gathering of local villagers, including women, children, elders, and civil dignitaries, symbolizing a collective celebration of progress and unity.
This development falls in line with the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme and underscores the Indian Army’s enduring role not just as protectors of the nation, but also as active agents of grassroots transformation.
The Chinar Corps, in association with Aseem Foundation, continues to spearhead several such initiatives focused on rural electrification, clean energy adoption, and community development across Jammu & Kashmir. Their partnership reflects a robust model of nation-building through innovation, compassion, and inclusion.
As Seemari steps into a new era of light, dignity, and hope, this initiative stands as a shining example of how security, development, and service can go hand in hand—even in the remotest corners of India.
