The writings of Ananta K Giri have always taught me something, though he is a wonderfully odd character. Here’s some new work from him. “Social Thought as Conversations; A New Upanishad of Life and an Ecology of Hope” scholar.google.com/scholar_u…

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Marjane Satrapi. Author of the internationally acclaimed Persepolis, translated into Hindi by Vani Prakashan and into Kannada by Chanda Pustaka, she leaves behind a body of work that has profoundly shaped our understanding of contemporary Iran, women's lives, and the power of graphic storytelling. Through her singular voice and unmistakable visual language, she opened a window onto history, memory, exile, and resistance for readers across the world. We will always remember her generosity in joining us for the launch of the Hindi translation of Persepolis on 11 June 2021, at a time when the world was confined to its homes. She gave us her time, her warmth, and the opportunity to revisit a story that had touched so many lives.

I’ve been working on and off on a novel on early Buddhism, set in Gandhara. For the last month, I’m writing much more consistently, daily. This has led me to talking occasionally with one of my characters, aloud. I thought I might be going mad, but apparently this is “normal”:

British Library gave this in 10 minutes for free. I was visiting the country for just a few days.

Absolutely crazy find! Dozens of Foucault lectures freely available on the website of the College de France! All I think from after 1968, his transformative period living in Tunis. I’m starting the #Foucault chapter of my #Tunis book today, #writing in the cafe where he worked.

It was just the Pahalgam anniversary. One year since April 22, 2025, when 26 innocent people were killed in a valley that has seen too much blood. Dan Qayyum's recent essay in The Pakistan Playbook, marking that grim milestone, is quite engaging—but also cynical. @DeccanHerald

Kind of cocky for what, maybe top 800 in the world? Sprinters are cocky though, maybe it’s what helps them reach these extremes. But still, maybe don’t throw shoes til top 50 I’d say?
Punjab’s Gurindervir Singh becomes fastest Indian alive and breaks Milkha Singh’s record 100m in just 10.09 seconds 😱 Just 0.5 behind Usain Bolt’s world record!! Goosebumps
