ALT The European Defence Challenge is an open competition to attract young talent to the Defence industry and to encourage them to initiate a career in defence-related technologies. The Challenge invites European students to think about a current problem in the domain of Defence and propose a solution. The Awards Ceremony of the 5th edition of the Challenge, hosted by the Belgian Royal Military Academy (RMA), and themed “Towards a Safer Tomorrow: Multidisciplinary Approaches to Landmine Clearance and Security Enhancement”, took place at RMA Brussels, on May 9, 2025. During the event, the finalists presented their innovative proposals, addressing key challenges in the defence sector, and we announced the winners of this edition. What an inspiring edition! ALT The conference will feature expert panels and discussions focusing on the key challenges in Europe’s labour market, including labour shortages, the growth of green jobs, and the impact of AI on workforce transformation. The panels will bring together renowned experts, researchers, and policymakers, including: - Keynote speakers: Glenda Quintini (OECD) and a representative from the World Employment Confederation; - Expert panel on tackling labour shortages and workforce transformation; - Roundtable discussion on measuring labour and skill shortages in Europe; - Policy roundtable on how to develop a sustainable workforce for the future focused on experience of Italy. The conference will also mark the official launch of the book "Re-Thinking Europe’s Skill Needs: Reflections Following the European Year of Skills". The afternoon will include interactive sessions led by the book’s authors. Simultaneous translation will be available in both Italian and English throughout the event.
