When Dr. Peterson Zah was an ASU student in the 1960s, there was perhaps no more than 10 American Indian students then. Throughout the decades, he saw this student population grow.
Today ASU has a growing population of 3,700 #NativeCollegeStudents.
I am saddened by the loss of Peterson Zah, a groundbreaking and courageous leader who shared his knowledge, passion for education and service, and generosity of spirit to make @ASU, AZ and Indian Country better. Our deepest condolences to the Zah family and the Navajo Nation.
This evening we mourn the loss of our #SunDevil grandpa Peterson Zah. He leaves a powerful legacy of leadership, wisdom and advocacy for Indigenous education.
