Am I upset? Yes.
Because this practice happens far too often and we let it happen far too much, even to the point where we gaslight ourselves into thinking that companies like Sony or EA are indie level and don't have money to pick themselves up from other projects.

Let's be sensible here. A company killing off a beloved, wonderful title and shifting focus into another one that pales in comparison to creating a community, actually has INCREDIBLY larger competition and is within a niche gaming market has to be the biggest shot in the foot.
If Marathon fails then so does Bungie. If Marathon succeeds then Bungie lives to pitch Destiny 3 one day. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s the closest we’re getting to it right now.
The boycotting by creators only erodes the chances of what they really want. Gun to my head between D3 and Marathon I’m picking the former. We got Marathon though so let’s make the best of it.
Also the “just sell the IP” people need to take their medications. In no world would Destiny in anyone else’s hands besides Bungie feel right. Maybe I’d trust BioWare, but that’s a true stretch.
All in all actually give Marathon a shot on future free weekends if you haven’t. It’s a great game that deserves respect.

You can't expect a community to sit idly by and accept a tasteless move, especially from a multi-billion dollar company. They can easily garnish the losses from other endeavors and many people seem to forget this. They're not indie, they have the means.
