I love visual arts, literature, poetry, travelling, music, ballet, pinball playing, learning languages. I cook and bake in a bohemian way; no fuss, more joy!
Hi, I’m from Finland! 🇫🇮
X is my window to the world; it’s great to learn about daily life and traditions in other countries.
My dishes are mostly homemade of organic ingredients. We eat a lot of different fish, have a crayfish feast in August, love wild berries and mushrooms.
18˚C today. It‘s sunny today, the lawns need mowing. The rest of the week will be cool and rainy.
For breakfast: sourdough rye bread with ice lettuce, Brie, strawberries and egg, herring and Cantaloupe melon, honeydew melon, orange, blueberries, coffee.
Hubby wanted to eat out, so I took him to Höyry restaurant. He chose his favourite meal: pan fried vendaces with cream potatoes and remoulded sauce. I had a pork schnitzel with mushroom sauce, fries and sautéed vegetables. We both had fresh side salads too.
14˚C today. Thunder is approaching, I can already hear the rumble and heavy rain is pouring down on the dahlias.
For breakfast: sourdough bread with ice lettuce, Portuguese sardines and cucumber, cold smoke rainbow trout and Crystal Gouda, strawberries, cherries, coffee.
What a cold and rainy Sunday! I didn’t feel like working in the garden, just filled the bird feeders, picked a bouquet of lilacs.
Hubby suggested pizza for dinner, so we drove to our local pub.
Pizza: pepperoni, red onion, bell pepper, peach and fresh rucola.
Not a bad choice!
14ºC today. Too bad last night's heavy rain damaged my delicate white Midsummer roses, the lilacs survived unharmed. 💜
For hubby’s brunch: cucumber, strawberries, radishes, pointy pepper, Piel de sapo melon, Cantaloupe melon, watermelon, egg, cabbage, orange.
The grey and rainy day is great for watching movies. I love old black and white Finnish ones, they bring back nostalgic memories of the days gone by. 🎬
For hubby’s brunch: cucumber, radishes, melons, cherries, pointy pepper, strawberries, avocado, cabbage, orange.
13ºC today. What a rainy weekend, but it brightens up with Finnish strawberries! I bought Danish pastries from our local bakery.🍓

I was a bit weary and I should have gone and used a scythe to mow the grass on the outside of the hedges, but fortunately the rain saved me. ☔️
For dinner: I grilled chicken drumsticks and flats in the oven with potato wedges and made a fresh vegetable side salad.
After brunch, hubby and I drove to the local mall. We had cappuccinos and I stopped by the garden store to look for flowers. I bought a lovely little sunflower that blooms all summer and three beautiful blueminks and planted them in the last pot I had left.
20ºC today. Purple beans, cherry tomatoes and herbs are growing nicely and dahlias are in bloom.
For breakfast: sourdough rye bread with ice lettuce, Gouda, pansies and horseradish spread, Prosciutto crudo, avocado and strawberries, cherries, orange, melons, coffee.

I watched Helsinki International Ballet Competition Gala today, oh, how it made me miss the live performances! There were so many talented young dansers dazzling the audience! 🩰 ✨
Back to my banal reality: doing laundry, cleaning and making vegetable and sausage soup! Sigh! 😞
