I was given a binder of Pokémon cards years ago. Inside was a Dark Charizard.
When I finally sorted the collection, I gave it away.
I knew it was valuable but sometimes the right place for a card isn't your binder.
It's wherever it'll be appreciated most.

📍I returned to Chicago.
It’s wild how much can change in just a few months.
Last year I was facing eviction, exhausted, struggling financially, and carrying more emotional weight than I knew what to do with.
Returning to GO Fest Chicago felt different this time.

One of the things I’m still learning is how to receive help.
I’ve spent most of my life being fiercely independent.
This trip reminded me that love sometimes looks like allowing other people to care for you just as much as you care for them.

I’m learning to find my tribe.
And I’m learning what it feels like to call it home.
Pokémon has been a light when my world went dark.

This Corsola card always stood out to me.
Even though Corsola is a Water Pokémon, it used Fighting Energy, a clever way for the TCG to represent its Rock typing.
