💙 A Tribute to Mr. Cesar
Some people leave a position. Others leave a legacy.
I’ve known Mr. Cesar since 2012 when I was a classroom teacher at Taylor High School. Over the years, our paths continued to cross as I transitioned from teacher to assistant principal, and he became my trusted partner-in-crime when it came to one of the most challenging parts of school leadership—the master schedule.
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of serving alongside him as my Assistant Principal at Elsik Ninth Grade Center.
If you’ve ever worked with Mr. Cesar, you know one thing: his favorite question is, “What systems do we have in place?” He believes deeply in creating structures that support students, staff, and the success of the campus. He is an advocate, a problem solver, and someone who always puts students first.
He is also one of the biggest jokesters you’ll ever meet. To this day, I’m still not sure when he’s joking and when he’s serious. 😂 And yes, he is responsible for at least a few of the gray hairs I’ve earned over the past three years.
When I stepped into the principalship, I leaned heavily on Mr. Cesar. His wisdom, experience, humor, and steady support helped make that transition possible. Through every challenge, he was there with advice, encouragement, and probably a joke at exactly the wrong—and right—time.
Mr. Cesar, thank you for your years of service, your leadership, your advocacy, your friendship, your dancing skills, and your unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for students.
You will be deeply missed by the entire Elsik family.
Now, before you leave… just make sure the master schedule is finished. 😄
