Yesterday, as ASG/Deputy Executive Director, @UN_Women I paid a courtesy call on the Zimbabwe Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Hon Murwira and his delegation at the Zimbabwe House/Mission in NY. I was accompanied by Ms Louise Nylin, Chief of Political Analysis and Program Development. I briefed on UN Women’s Women, Peace and Securitt portifolio as the penholder of UN Res1325. I wished Zimbabwe the best, for its bid to the Security Council as a non-permanent member. Zimbabwe hosted the @AWLNetwork Inter-generational meeting last year that had strong recommendations on role of women in conflict prevention and peace negotiations. @unwomenafrica @annamutavati @MoFA_ZW @PaiviKannisto @WPSFocalPoints @ElsieFund @AUC_OSEWPS @wphfund

🌍 Aucune transformation durable de l’Afrique ne pourra se faire sans les femmes. In a video statement, Dr. Jemimah Njuki, AfDB's Director of Gender, Women and Civil Society, highlighted the Bank’s continued commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment across the continent. She noted that through the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA), the Bank has already channeled over USD 3 billion to women entrepreneurs and is working with 200 financial institutions to expand access to finance. Looking ahead, she announced plans to unlock an additional USD 5 billion for women entrepreneurs through the Bank’s investments. Calling for concrete action, she emphasized that gender equality must be at the heart of investment decisions, national policies, and economic transformation efforts across Africa. #AfDBAM2026 #AWLN #AFAWA #WomenLeadership #FinancialInclusion #GenderEquality #EconomicTransformation
