So many things said about Crystal Palace last night, but how about some non-Palace things:
Maurizio Mariani the Italian referee was excellent. Generally the Conference League reffing, especially in the latter stages, better than the PL.
Rayo Vallecanoโs fans were sensational.
Before last May, Crystal Palace had never won a major trophy in their 120 year existence.
In 12 months weโve won the FA Cup, Community Shield and now the Conference League. Quite simply amazing.
Oliver Glasner leaves on a high, having delivered a minor miracle. #cpfc ๐ด ๐ต ๐ฆ
Stunned, appalled, shocked etc to see actual tax reform from a politician. This from Wes Streeting today.
A thread on why capital gains tax is broken. It's too low AND too high. & why this is a good proposal.

Appears Cricket South Africa have put precisely 0 tickets on general sale for fans for the SA v England, Newlands Test in January 2027 Days 1-4 marked as sold out before they were due to go on sale.
Presumably all gone to tour companies who will sell at a (significant) mark up.
If anyone knows how fans might still be able to get tickets, which aren't significantly marked up or involve having to book flights as part of a package, I'd be grateful. Genuine cricket fan just wanting to watch some cricket. #cricket#barmyarmy#england#southafrica#newlands
The UEFA Conference League effect?
Unsurprisingly Crystal Palace's results after playing in Europe is noticeably poorer than in other games.
Palace on 45 points overall this season
But 14 points from 15 league games after Conf League games would equate to 36 in a season. #CPFC
This is in no way saying being in Europe hasn't been anything other than amazing, what fans have dreamed off with some away trips in particular which will never be forgotten.
But simply a data analysis of the impact it's probably had on our league performance this season.
In fact in the 22 league games we've played where we haven't had a Conference League game beforehand we have secured 31 points (which is 1.41 points per game).
Over a 38 game season that would be around 54 points (which would be 7th in the Premier League table). 9 extra points.
If this is the end, Roy Hodgsonโs extraordinary career:
7x Allsvenskan (Swedish champions)
1x Danish Title
2x Swedish Cup & 1x Danish Cup
1x Swiss Super Cup
2x UEFA Cup Runner-Up (Inter & Fulham)
4x National Jobs (Switzerland, Finland, UAE & England)
1200 games over 50yrs.

@HillaryClinton warned us:
โThis is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes โ because itโs not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin.โ
In 1966, there were 4 working people for every retired person.
Today, thereโs around 3 working age for every retired person in the UK.
By about 2045, it is forecast to just be 2 working people for every retired person.
ALL political parties need to face up to this. #pensions
It wonโt be sustainable to protect the triple lock or pensions in their current form without radical action.
But the solution will necessarily be complex.
This demographic timebomb for the UK is actually one of the strongest arguments for immigration - but crucially people who will be economically active and across particular geographies and sectors.
