Why is no media or party engaging with or discussing Disabled people or carers this election? It seems stereotypes of who we are & how we live (& suffer) linger deep in both We are HUGE, vital & diverse..all faiths/colours/genders/age & mixed disabilities Shame on both

This disabled man has given up waiting for @CityofYork to spend its BSIP money providing seating /shelter at bus stops. He told me he can walk but cannot stand & his wife (out of shot) carries the chair which is the only way they can take the bus. #DisabledByTheBusNetwork

No one dreams of needing benefits but equally, there is no reason receiving them should mean losing dignity. It’s been a political choice for the Tories to make disabled and low paid people feel unworthy scroungers - just as Labour can choose to give them their dignity back.

Unpaid carers, who provide high levels of care for sick, or disabled relatives and friends are more than twice as likely to suffer from poor health themselves.  We're calling for adequate funding for #carer breaks this #GE2024 bit.ly/Carers_Manifesto

We’re campaigning for a reform of Carers Allowance and carers’ benefits . Carers Allowance is the lowest benefit of it’s kind, at £81.90 a week. This General Election, we need to #valuecarers. We need benefits that allow us to survive. #GE2024

Keir Starmer has said that 'handouts from the state' do not offer the same 'dignity' as working for a wage. Ken Butler from @DisRightsUK offers a response to the labour leaders words in the latest @BigIssue piece bigissue.com/news/social-jus…

1.5m people provide 50 hours of unpaid care each week, without which our health & care systems would collapse. The next Government must invest in social care so everyone can access the support they need. Sign our open letter ahead of the #GeneralElection go.carersuk.org/446hgcr?utm_…

I am pleased that we were able to influence the Government to reinstate the funding scheme for disabled candidates. It was the top agenda item in the Government’s Disability Action Plan. There is much more to be done still. Thanks to all the partners we have worked with so far.
Our second recommendation was for the Government to reinstate a formal funding scheme for disabled candidates. We are pleased that this has been actioned by the Government, and will be introduced in 2025. Thanks to our partners @CentenaryAction and @ElectHer_UK for supporting.

But @wesstreeting as you know full well Labour councils are not only charging disabled people for crucial social care but also siphoning off their welfare benefits to do so. Pushing many into ill health, poverty, and debt. Will Labour commit to scrapping social care charges?
