We need to add modal particles into English, particularly the way in which “ja” is used. I’m trying to find an English equivalent, and I guess “indeed” can sometimes be like it, but it can also be used as a rebuttal so Idk.

I looked into it and found that average people in 1995 tended to hold lots of views that we would now consider unacceptable.
