today @GovKathyHochul is finally acting to fund NYC transit, so today would also be a great day for @GovernorShapiro to step in and save SEPTA and the entire Philly region from a transit death spiral
Mass transit is a lifeline for Pennsylvanians, but Senate Republicans still refused a deal to fund SEPTA.
Now, the Governor may be able to "flex" federal funds to help plug the gap in SEPTA’s budget. I believe we should use any power we have to avoid fare hikes and service cuts.
If transit’s on the ballot today, then Transit’s gotcha covered 🗳️
In-app banners are up in cities with transit ballot initiatives. NO to cars, YES for buses, trains, and bike lanes! ✊
Ok so you know the war on Christmas people?
I fear I am a war on Halloween person bc of trunk or treats. I’m vehemently opposed to them for communities that have houses close enough to walk between. I think it’s ruining America, and I’m kind of joking but also not at all joking.
“While the FDR Drive moves 150,000 vehicles per day, the Lexington Avenue Line 4/5/6 trains, which parallels it in Manhattan, moves 1.3 *million* riders. As a whole, the New York City Subway moves more people every day than all of the airlines in the United States combined.”
“It’s not my duty as mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. For me, it’s the same as if you bought a cow, or a refrigerator, and then asked me where you’re going to put them."
-Miguel Anxo Fernandez Lores, mayor of Pontevedra, Spain
Blue Corn Restaurant packed on a Tuesday, indoor and out. Also one of the only establishments open at 8pm. Can we pleeeease create a 24 hour economy in the Italian Market 😭😭😭 and/or ban cars 😏
Scrolling through PennDOT’s proposal for rebuilding I-95 in S. Philly is like entering a time warp. Climate change doesn’t exist, neighborhoods don’t matter and transit alternatives aren’t even considered. My column offers a better approach. inquirer.com/transportation/…
