Entertaining game, a fair result I think. NZ I think sensed Iran might be there for the taking with all the upheaval and made more of a game of it than many thought they would.
It'll be seen as a heroic Saudi defensive effort, but surely their media and fans should be questioning why they even resulted to inviting pressure when they were causing Uruguay problems first half when they played their own game. Overtly defensive when they didn't need to be.
So far the really poor level of the Conmebol qualifiers for this World Cup are carrying through to the tournament itself for those nations. Argentina were a class apart so it'll be interesting to see how they go against what should be a tough opponent on Tuesday.
Enjoyed that Ivory Coast performance. Look like they could be a proper dark horse. Ecuador started the better, but as I always say about them...not a tournament football nation, they need to find a way of breaking that.
Game got into a good rhythm there...and then there's a hydration break. FIFA need to admit defeat on this one or it might genuinely be damaging to the sport.

As good as Beach was, Turkey also worked themselves into a lot of bad shooting positions and then took a wild swing. Australia sharper and stronger in many key duels throughout.

Turkiye had a better stat line but frankly I don't think they get out of the group now. That's how good Australia's result was with the defensive wall #worldcup
Cahill Celebration to go with the goal. #FootballHeritage. Aussies had looked dangerous on the counter, future Norwich signing (😆) Irankunda with the quality that had been lacking before.
Gutted for Haiti, man, they provided the entertainment in that one, but just didn't get the rub of the green, nor key decisions from the ref in their favour.
Proper heroes vs. villains match this now even though I imagine many might not have been too fussed beforehand. Scotland very lucky to be ahead with a fluke goal against possibly the most likeable underdog we've seen in some time at the World Cup.
After those subs, Morocco’s midfield of Ayoub Bouaddi, Samir El Mourabet and Neil El Aynaoui have an average age of 20.6 years old… against Brazil… in the World Cup
We’re watching the present future of this team. We’ll be seeing the same midfield in the 2030 World Cup
