I am pleased to announce my new paper: 'Do attitudes towards policy changes depend on beliefs about policy levels?' The main result is that individual attitudes are remarkably insensitive to (quantitative) beliefs about levels. For example: ๐Ÿ”นIncreasing beliefs about the top tax rate by 8.5 percentage points does not increase the share who want to cut the top tax rate. ๐Ÿ”นIncreasing beliefs about annual refugee inflows by about 160,000 does not increase the share who want fewer refugees. Any comments are of course very welcome. The paper can be viewed here: itzhakrasooly.com/_files/ugdโ€ฆ

Vaccine hesitancy is the next challenge ahead. Understanding why some communities are hesitant is key. Last year we found a robust link between belief in science and social distancing. We find the same link today with vaccine hesitancy even after accounting for partisanship.
