Freelancer plug alert! 🥳🤘
In addition to working with
@FlyGirlFilms, for our current Youth Theatre project Sounding Board, we’ve also been working with Northumberland based freelancer
@AddisonJKeen (pictured)! Addison (like many freelancers) wears many hats; he’s a talented actor, producer, director, film maker & facilitator!
Engaging freelancers like Addison is all part of our ongoing commitment to support early career artists & practitioners, & to give paid work to the wonderful North East freelance community.
We recently caught up with Addison so we could introduce him & share his journey into the creative sector to inspire others – so let’s hear from Addison: 👇
“My journey started with attending my local youth theatre at the
@QueensHall. From there, I went on to attend the DJW School of Acting in Newcastle & then went on to study Film Practices at
@UniofNewcastle. I am currently working as a freelance film producer & filmmaker as well as facilitating both filmmaking & drama sessions for young people.
Aspiring filmmakers, performers, & creatives must never feel that it's too early or too late to make a start. The arts is a fantastic catalyst to help boost confidence and teamwork; it’s helpful to people that are wanting to make a career in the creative sector AND those wanting to use the skills gained to help facilitate a different career path.
With Mortal Fools, I've been working on a Music Video with one of their younger Youth Theatre groups. The song has a strong message behind it focusing on encouraging positive environmental action; but it’s also funny & whimsical. The song & music video is a great testament to the hard work the young people put into their sessions over the last few months. They came in each week with big smiles, creative ideas, & spades of energy, which created a fantastic environment for the sessions!”
Thank you Addison – we loved having you as part of our Sounding Board project! 🙌
