The people I don't get the most are the "kids will find a way" crowd 😅 Think about the things western society almost UNIVERSALLY agrees children shouldn't have: alcohol, cigarettes, & restricted physical substances. We put age restrictions on them b/c we understand the devastating physical & developmental consequences. Do teenagers still find workarounds? Absolutely. But the fact that a 15-yr-old can sneak a drink doesn't mean we should abolish the legal drinking age. Even the most rebellious adults who accessed drugs early in life will fiercely protect their own kids from having open access to those same substances. So why is the proposed social media ban facing such fierce backlash? B/c the damage is silent. You can't see an algorithm eroding a child's mind in a lab the way you can see a cigarette damaging their lungs. Let's make the invisible harm visible(which is what I believe the campaigns leading up to this should've done a lot more). Nearly 40% of children ages 8 to 12 are already using social media. Adolescents spending more than 3 hrs daily on these platforms face double the risk of mental health issues like anxiety & depression. When asked about the impact on their body image, 46% of adolescents aged 13-17 said social media actively makes them feel worse. For teenage girls using platforms like Instagram, about 1 in 3 reported feeling worse about their bodies due to the app. As many as 72% of teens say they have been cyberbullied. Cyberbullying is more strongly correlated with suicide attempts than traditional face-to-face bullying. These apps are altering brain structure during a highly vulnerable developmental window, affecting areas like the amygdala that manage emotional learning. If a legal, physical product was doing this much quantifiable damage to an ENTIRE generation, we'd pull it from the shelves immediately. We need to stop pretending screens are safe just b/c there's no smoke.

As a Muslim, there's something that genuinely bothers me. Millions of Muslims live in Christian majority countries, build mosques, preach Islam publicly, distribute Qur'ans, open halal businesses, and demand religious freedom,and rightly so. Some even call for aspects of Shariah to be accommodated in the societies they've moved to. Yet in some Muslim majority countries, Christians cannot openly preach the Gospel, build churches freely, or practice their faith without restrictions. Why? If we demand religious freedom for ourselves, we should be willing to grant it to others. Truth does not need censorship. If Islam is the truth, it has nothing to fear from a church, a Bible, or a Christian preacher. You can't demand tolerance and freedom for Muslims abroad while denying the same freedoms to others at home. The double standard needs to be called out.

It is not a media circus. And don’t tell me this is for the fans. Fans want better football, not a tired player giving a robotic 20-second answer because somebody sold another broadcast package. Vinícius understood that. He chose football over public relations. The funniest part? They threaten him with a fine. A fine. As if that changes the principle. If I were there, I’d pay it too. Because some things are worth more than money. If FIFA really had their way, they’d put microphones in the dressing room and call it innovation. Football should come first. Not content. I know this might sound harsh, but that was genuinely one of the biggest managerial disasterclasses I've ever seen. This man called up 4 wingers and 3 strikers, only to bench all of them and start the opening World Cup game with a 5-3-2 that he hadn't used even once during the friendlies. He benched all of his forwards and lined up with 5 defenders and 5 midfielders against Sweden. It gets worse. He played a defensive full-back who is basically a hybrid CB profile like Kounde for example and he played him as a wing-back, used our backup left-back, who arguably didn't even deserve a call-up, as a left centre-back, and after going 2-0 down by halftime, he didn't make a single substitution until the 72nd minute. And when the changes finally came, they somehow made even less sense. He brought on a central midfielder to play wing-back, and a left winger to play on the right, and then took off both of his defensive midfielders for an attacking midfielder and a striker. We literally finished the game with a double pivot made up of two number 10s. I'm serious when I say this is the kind of squad management you wouldn't even see in FIFA Career Mode. We've faced teams like England, Belgium, France, and Spain at World Cups before. We've always been underdogs. Yet somehow, our biggest defeat in World Cup history came against Sweden. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about how badly this game was handled. I know most of you probably don't care about Tunisia's tactical disasters, but I just needed to get this off my chest.
