R-TYPE LEO (Irem/1992) is the last R-Type game for the arcades and actually a spin-off from the main series. Lacking some of the key gameplay mechanics but it looks and sounds so great that it's worth it.
Was never ported to traditional home consoles during its original release. In 2010, it was re-released on PC/Windows as part of Dotemu's Irem Arcade Hits compilation.
