Consultation fee: fee paid to speak with a lawyer and get legal opinion/advice. Appearance fee: fee paid to have a lawyer show up in court for you. Retainership: fee paid to a lawyer so he can always be on stand by for you. Once you pay this, you can call that lawyer in the night and he'd show up for you. (It's this fee that can make you say boldly "I HAVE A LAWYER" Don't mix them up

The speed at which William Ruto is renovating State House and building State lodges is exactly the same speed Kenyans expected on the thousands of roads he promised. If that level of urgency had been applied to public projects, many communities would not still be struggling with impassable roads and stalled development. After years of promises dating back to his time as Deputy President, Kenyans are asking a simple question: why is State House moving at lightning speed while so many public commitments remain stuck on the drawing board? The country needs roads, jobs, and accountability, not endless promises and photo opportunities.

Yesterday, Tanzania Defence Forces crossed into Angata Barikoi and opened fire on civilians. Yet the Government of Kenya remains silent, as though nothing has happened. If foreign forces can enter Kenyan territory and endanger the lives of Kenyan citizens without a strong response from the state, then serious questions must be asked. A nation that cannot speak up when its people are threatened risks failing in its most basic duty: protecting its citizens and defending its sovereignty.

A state cannot claim to champion democracy while holding people for months, even years, without trial. Detention without due process undermines the very principles of justice and human rights that democracies are supposed to defend. If democracy means anything, it must include the right to a fair and timely hearing before a court. @DonaldBKipkorir
