Yesterday, on
#AgeWithoutLimitsDay, we hosted an event in Portcullis House in collaboration with
@ersa_news to highlight the need to strengthen employment support for people in their 50s and 60s.
With around one million people in this age group wanting to work but locked out of the labour market, the event was an opportunity to bring this issue directly to Parliament and spark conversations about what needs to change.
We were pleased to be joined by colleagues from Triage and from the Southampton City Council's Adults Employment Hub, who shared insights from their work on the ground. We were also delighted that the Minister for Employment, Dame
@DianaJohnsonMP, was able to drop in and engage with the event.
It was particularly encouraging to see strong interest from MPs, with many taking the time to discuss what works in practice and what this means for their local constituencies.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion!
