Nigeria is home to over 20.9 million cattle, yet local milk production still meets less than half of national demand, leading to dairy imports worth up to $1.5 billion annually.
Behind every dairy product are the farmers, pastoralists, processors, transporters, retailers, and innovators who sustain the value chain. Strengthening their work requires targeted investment in production systems, processing capacity, cold chain infrastructure, and market access. Bridging this gap would not only reduce dependence on imports but also unlock opportunities for local production, create jobs, improve nutrition, and strengthen food security.
