Notre-Dame was built from 1163–1345. Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was founded in 1051, with the Dormition Cathedral being built from 1073-1078, predating Notre-Dame by over a century. When did launching missiles into major Christian cathedrals become normalized? Russia wants to destroy Ukrainian Christianity. Anyone pretending otherwise is lying to you. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyiv_P… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre-… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dormit…
BREAKING: A Russian drone has struck the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Built in 1051, the monastery is the most important site of Orthodox Christianity in Ukraine.

Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the Russian strikes are ongoing in Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv. Last night, the Russians launched more than 60 missiles at the capital alone. In total, 70 missiles and 611 drones were used against Ukraine. As of now, 28 people have been reported injured and four killed in the capital. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. A Russian strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra set the Dormition Cathedral on fire – a church whose history dates back to the 11th century. And this is one of Russia’s most serious crimes against Christian culture to date. The State Emergency Service has already extinguished the fire on the cathedral’s roof. In Kharkiv, the Russians carried out a repeat strike against our rescuers as they were putting out a fire at the site of an earlier strike on an industrial facility. So far, tragically, five people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Nine people have been injured. In Dnipro, Russia struck the grounds of a railway station, a college, and several enterprises. Other cities and communities were targeted as well. The Kyiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions were also under attack. This is how Russia shows the world its intention to continue the war. It is very important that there be a response from the G7 countries, which are now gathering for their summit – and that this response be decisive and substantive: more pressure on the aggressor and more support for Ukraine’s air defense, especially anti-ballistic capabilities. I thank everyone who is helping us protect lives.

🚨 Russia damaged the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv during another attack. A fire broke out, and the studio’s costume workshop was destroyed. According to Ukraine’s Culture Ministry, the country’s largest and oldest costume collection was lost — around 100,000 costumes and more than 3 million pieces of stage clothing. Other studio buildings were also damaged. Rescue and emergency teams are working at the scene

It's Day 1573 and the attempted genocide by Russia continued through the night. Killing the people of Ukraine, its first responders and the most sacred religious site in the country. The world looks on, shaking its head. If Putin's Nazism isn't stopped, it will reach you soon.

I visited, and indeed filmed at the Dovenchenko studios for my 2023 documentary. But that and the Lavra are not the only significant strikes and areas of destruction. The well known Comfort Town complex was hit, including the primary school there. #RussiaIsATerroristState

I hope not. Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has not retaliated against Russian strikes on Ukrainian churches, museums, and other civilian targets. Ukraine has not retaliated for barbarian Russian tactics on the occupied territories. Unlike Russia, Ukraine has not been torturing and killing POWs. As I understand, this is in part what Ukrainians are fighting for - not to be like Putin and his thugs.
Maybe it’s time to hit this place?!?

Exactly--cowardice and moral depravity.
No, Trump himself has never visited Ukraine during the war (since 2022). Zelenskyy has invited him repeatedly, but Trump has declined. Others—such as JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner, or Steve Witkoff—have never visited Ukraine. In contrast, Trump’s associates (especially Witkoff) have visited Russia multiple times; Witkoff alone has gone there on numerous occasions (at least seven times), often meeting with Putin, sometimes alongside Kushner and others. This behavior on the part of Trump and his team reveals a disgusting cowardice and moral depravity: they shun the under-attack, bleeding nation of Ukraine like the plague, while regularly paying court to the aggressor Putin in Moscow.

Russia destroys Christian tradition in Ukraine, physically and kinetically. Each and every time I am abroad, talking to the people of the West, they ask: "How soon will you forgive russia, how soon you will make peace?". Never :) You never forgive such things

In physics, everything is relative to something else. Apparently, the same applies inside the Russian mind. They do not see the crimes. They do not see the deaths of their own soldiers. They do not see the flaws in their own equipment. They judge everything relative to the result. So the problem, in their logic, is not that the tank fails to protect its crew. The “achievement” is that when the vehicle is hit, the crew dies quickly and supposedly without suffering. It is a way of normalizing expendability — turning the death of soldiers into a design feature rather than asking why they are being sent to die in the first place.

Russia destroying the Dorminition Cathedral of the Kyiv Cave Monastry is the continuation of a Bolshevik tradition of destroying what they can not have or conquer ideologically Russia can not have Lavra, Kyiv, Ukraine. Hence, it strives to destroy all of it.

For nearly two decades, Putin and Russian propaganda have pushed the narrative that he is a defender of Christian values and that Russia is the last bastion of Christianity. Today, Russia struck the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of the oldest and most revered Orthodox Christian sites in the world. Russia cannot achieve its objectives on the battlefield, so it turns its war against religious and historic landmarks and continues to terrorize civilians.

In Kyiv, a Russian missile struck the Dormition Cathedral, the main church of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. It is almost one thousand years old. It is older than Moscow itself. If those Russian patriots ever dare to start talking about the history of Kievan Rus again, just silently show them these photos. Or not so silently – tell them to go to hell. For fuck’s sake, it is high time to hit the Lubyanka and the presidential palace in the Kremlin already. What resources do you need? What fundraising should we start?

Some people in the West still speak of Russian high culture. Look carefully at this photograph. The holes in the wall of the Dnipro House of Organ and Chamber Music is what Russian culture looks like when it arrives uninvited. Last night, Russia struck Dnipro. The organ hall — destroyed. A college — damaged. Enterprises, infrastructure, residential buildings across multiple districts of Dnipropetrovsk region — struck. An ambulatory clinic. A market. Schools. A 64-year-old man is in hospital. A 46-year-old man is in hospital. Russia did not accidentally hit a music hall. Russia does not accidentally hit anything. It aims at what it aims at — and what it aims at, consistently, across four years of full-scale war, is the places where civilians live, study, heal, and listen to music. The Russia that has been fighting this war for four years — looks like this: A destroyed organ hall in Dnipro. That is Russia. A bombed ambulatory clinic in Nikopol. That is Russia. A struck school in Synelnykove. That is Russia. A music college with its walls blown out. That is Russia. This is not what Russia exports to international festivals and cultural forums. This is what Russia exports when it has bombs instead of invitations. You may never have been to the real Russia. You are looking at it now. Study every hole in that wall carefully. That is the "Russian world." That is what it does when it reaches you. Ukraine has been holding it back since 2022.
