Still astonished by these comments from Davey. Lib Dem activists across urban England will have fought really hard as local election candidates. Their leader basically doesn't believe in their fight. What dreadful leadership.

This is outrageous. In Ancoats, I made sure the Brit Awards artwork for Ancoats only went up on blank areas. Manchester Councillors had the opportunity to shape where the artwork goes for their own wards, why did @Piccadilly_Lab let this happen? manchestereveningnews.co.uk/โ€ฆ

Actually angry about this, @gretamsimpson us councillors had the chance to feedback on location in our wards, why did @JonConnorLyons let this happen in Piccadilly ward?

Reasonable question, and classic Labour deflection and snarl. This response from Starmer is exactly the kind of nastiness that fills Labour councils up and down this country when their incompetence and hypocrisy are laid bare before them. I'm glad he's letting the public see it.
๐Ÿšจ WATCH Ed Davey asks Starmer if he still stands by past comments that refusing responsibility convinces people nothing can improve Starmer angrily hits back: "One of the reasons was austerity... he should take accountability for what he's inflicted on this country" #PMQs

Quite lazy stuff. What she is describing is likely a family where all 3 children are severely disabled, as well as 1 parent. So that's max UC, DLA and CB. Vanishingly few households have this. If you want disabled children to be punished, then have the damn courage to say so
A working family now needs ยฃ71k just to match the income of a jobless 3-child household. This morning Starmer will claim heโ€™ll cut welfare, but EVERYONE knows he hiked taxes to record levels to fund a bloated welfare state. Spare us. He rewards dependency, not work. Donโ€™t believe a word he says.

Really pleased to say we received cross-party support for my motion today committing Manchester City Council to bring forward a community-led Manchester Pride 2026 ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ Lots of work to do, let's get it going ๐Ÿ’ช manchestereveningnews.co.uk/โ€ฆ

We really are living through 80s-style rhetoric again. Trans people just want to live, work, socialise and get on in life, but a vocal minority of people are so focussed on making everyone fear trans people in some way. The same tired old 'gay panic', again.
Today on Trans Day of Remembrance we remember those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence, and reflect on how we as a society can end this loss of life. Liberal Democrats will always stand up for the rights of everyone in the LGBT community.

Obviously. Whenever I log on after a break and have a gander at X, all the recommended tweets I get, and a lot of my feed, is from Reform, Farage, Yaxley-Lennon. Genuinely feel better for seldom checking this website these days and I post to implore others to try more breaks

"The X algorithm prioritises sending new users right-wing leaning content", a Sky News Data and Forensics investigation reveals. In this report, Sky's @Chesh explains how Elon Musk's X is boosting the British right. ๐Ÿ”—trib.al/DtAJLoU

Real life is not social media/X, this platform is a destabilising and radicalising presence in society. A majority of people are still reasonable and kind in real life

Lots of very strange and extreme responses here to my previous tweets. I do notice this (anonymous) fringe group within the Lib Dems is trying to encourage harassment of fellow party members online, it's quite sad really. Recommend they have some breaks off Twitter/X ๐Ÿ˜…
Meet Alan. Thinks groups supporting women's rights are fringe, not big issue. Also Alan - writes to Leader of Commons to object to puberty blocker ban. Praising leader @EdwardJDavey for meeting (only) with trans people post change in LD code of conduct which allowed GC views etc

I do think that these fringe groups distract from the big issues we get on the doorstep about the cost of living in Britain It is scary when the world changes quickly. It's harder for people to empathise and find common ground these days. I hope Sarah has a nice day, genuinely
I donโ€™t think sex-realist women in the @LibDems are in fact โ€˜a fringe group in the partyโ€™. Iโ€™m sure the vast majority of our members, let alone our voters, support the SC confirmation that โ€˜womanโ€™ in the EA means biological woman. /1

Couldn't be more proud of my colleague for her stellar work as a campaigning councillor! Quite strange comments from a fringe group in the party, I hope they can get past their agitation for division and join us in celebrating hard-working Liberal Democrat councillors ๐Ÿ”ถ
The Express asked us about awarding the Patsy Carlton Prize to Cllr Chris Northwood. This is our response: "This prize acknowledged an exceptional woman in Cllr Chris Northwood. The message it sends to women members and voters is that the Liberal Democrats honour and value all of our women members."
Community note
Women-only prizes are allowed under exceptions in EA2010. Under EA, Chris Northwood is a man and his inclusion is therefore directly & indirectly discriminatory. The Lib Dems claim to accept the Supreme Ct ruling, but are deliberately breaching the law. supremecourt.uk/uploads/uksc_2โ€ฆ

Surprisingly poor fact-checking from the BBC here! Ancoats Green and the Central Retail Park are completely different spaces ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Honestly reeks of a LLM/AI. (Also amusing that the council leader is referred to as "a councillor" in subheading) bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cewdโ€ฆ @BBCNWT

The US is in an era of appeasement, and the UK does not stand up to it. Really shameful, we are better than this

This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple. They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.
