Sept 5- Marketing/Consumption of NoLo Alcohol and CDoH in Ireland
September is recovery month & Recovery Champions will join us in this event. Send email to book: see description for email
ALT September is recovery month, and all over Ireland, groups and individuals are celebrating, making recovery visible, supporting those navigating that challenging journey and reducing the stigma associated with both addiction and recovery. It's essential to move beyond the individual and look at what types of environments can support recovery. Environments free from aggressive alcohol marketing would be an important step forward. This is one of the important topics we will discuss at this upcoming event on Sept 5th. The North Dublin Regional Drugs Task Force recovery champion, Terry Hamilton, will join us. Other speakers include Prof Mimi Tatlow-Golden, Paula Leonard, Frank Houghton, and James Larkin, to name a few.

ALT Join us on Thursday, Sept 5 (10 am-4.30pm) for a workshop on ‘‘Priorities for Future Research on Marketing and Consumption of NoZero and Low Alcoholic Beverages (NoLo) in Ireland: A One-Day Workshop with People Interested in Commercial Determinants of Health’’. Co-organised by Emeka Dumbili (UCD School of Sociology) and Paula Leonard (Alcohol Forum Ireland), the workshop is a collaborative effort that will bring together commercial determinants of health (CDoH) researchers, advocates, charity organisations, members of CSOs and the general public.
Together, we will explore available evidence regarding NoLo marketing, consumption, and health implications in Ireland and determine areas to prioritise in the research and advocacy around NoLo/alcohol and health. We aim to build capacity for alcohol and other CDoH research/advocacy in Ireland. This HRB-funded event will feature presentations, plenary & workshops. Venue is at UCD LAW L024 Mason Hayes, UCD.
