Aldgate Solar Power (ASP) is the first community-owned solar project in the City of London. Follow us to find out more about our work and future projects
Last week we welcomed @RNBlake, @metecoban92 & the @CoopParty to Aldgate Solar Power. 🌍⚡ Recognised as a beacon project, we’re proud to be the first community energy co-op in the City of London & Westminster - and hopefully the first of many.

This week we joined a site visit to Middlesex Street Estate. We are proud to be supporting @AldgateSolar in its work generating clean energy locally, bringing community-owned power to the heart of the City of London & Westminster.
Thank you @RNBlake, @metecoban92 & @CoopParty for visiting our community energy project. 🌍⚡ Community energy is co-operative values in action: democratic, fair & sustainable power owned by the people. Proud to be the first of hopefully many in the City of London & Westminster.
🌞 On the rooftops of Aldgate, @RNBlake and @metecoban92 show how community energy is powering London’s future.
Solar panels on the Middlesex Street estate are proof that when power is put back in the hands of communities, change happens: cleaner, greener, fairer.

If we can power communities with solar right here in the Square Mile, we can do it everywhere. 🌞✨
Great to be at Middlesex Street Estate in the City this morning with @CoopParty, @RNBlake, @RepowerLondon and @CommEnergyLDN.
With support from the @MayorofLondon’s Community Energy Fund, residents here are now benefitting from clean, green solar power 🌍💚
Great to see Great British Energy Bill published with clear commitments to community-owned energy.
My letter to Energy Minister @mgshanks inviting him to visit energy projects in Cities of London and Westminster & to discuss how to fix our broken energy model.
🚨🚨 The 10-year ban on onshore wind has been lifted! 🚨🚨
Earlier today, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced that Labour had overturned the ban on onshore wind in England 🎉🙌

Thanks @CommEnergyLDN for inviting ASP to speak at your monthly meeting last week. It was great to hear from other groups about their success stories & ideas for overcoming funding & supply chain challenges. These in-person meetings are so valuable 🙏 #CommunityEnergy#London

Supported by our Powering Communities Fund, @AldgateSolar successfully ran their Creative Energy Club - a series of art workshops where people could create a renewably-powered village.
They were so popular they booked out!
Make sure to follow our social accounts and sign up to our newsletter to find out when we'll launch the next round of our funding applications.

Great to catch up with Syed from @CommEnergyLDN and Common Councillor Jason Pritchard to see the Aldgate community energy scheme at Middlesex Street.
This is a fantastic example of local renewable energy investment supporting communities.
