Following his return to office in 2025, reports indicated that Trump instructed the Pentagon to prepare to resume live nuclear weapons tests for the first time since 1992. Reports emerged in 2019 that Trump had asked national security officials on several occasions if it would be possible to use nuclear bombs to stop hurricanes from reaching the U.S. coast.
