My heart breaks for the prospective students whose dream schools halted admissions. I can only offer this, during my time at UNC, those who had spent time in tech positions/industry were better prepared for grad school than those (like myself) who jumped right in.

My advice if you had the rug pulled out from under you... Stay curious and stay hungry. Nobody can every take that away from you. Hopefully the "business" of science will correct itself, and when it does, you will be battle hardened. I can't wait to be your colleague.

When I was young I had a hand held microscope that I would use to look at everything from the skin on my finger, to bugs and trees, to the carpet. Sometimes I wonder if that that's why I became a scientist. So to test this hypothesis I just bought a similar thing for my nephews!

My Latest work from @Gronenborn_lab. Using 19F NMR, we developed a multiplexed assay for tracking small GTPase activity. This method enables real-time, simultaneous monitoring of multiple proteins under physiological conditions. Check it out in @J_A_C_S pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jacโฆ
