Last night, I saw Lil Wenker 'Boyking' at Soho Theatre. What a show! Hysterical and accomplished character and clown narrative comedy from a massively talented and incredibly likeable performer. And this was just a work-in-progress! You have to see it!

Not Anthony Head! Devestating news. What an actor! I always wish I'd seen him play Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror. Can you imagine how good that would have been?! He was so talented and apparently an absolute sweetheart. Raise a mug of Nescafe Gold blend in his honour. R.I.P. 😭

The last days of May in the Isolation Cinema. All flock to All4.

ROBOT DREAMS - I did like this but people had hyped it too much for me so it wasn't as good as I'd anticipated. There is an overuse of 'September' (and that's one of my fave songs). However, the jazzy music score is utterly beautiful and I could listen to that just on its own.

SPARTACUS - "I'M SPARTACUS!" Very few 3 hour films hold my attention for the full duration and, to my surprise, this is one of them. Kubrick's epic work here is astounding with sterling performances from the cast (Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Peter Ustinov and more). Terrific!

Isolation Cinema for most of May. It's too hot to think of a thematic link but they're all good and have top quality casts.

THE FULL MONTY - Amazingly, I had only ever seen exceprts of this. It's terrific! One of those indie British comedies we don't really see on our screens anymore. And we should. A genuinely uplifting portrayal of male masculinity and body positivity. And a cracking soundtrack!

BURN AFTER READING - An unsurprisingly bonkers crime caper form Coen Brothers mixing government secrets, with marital affairs, and plastic surgery. Great ragbag of selfish and idiotic characters with my favourite in all of it being J.K Simmons - who's only in 2 scenes.

So cool getting to chat to THE Peter Serafinowicz about this!!
Where would you premiere a little show like 'Look Around You'? For Peter Serafinowicz and Robert Popper, there was only one place... You can listen to the full conversation right here! shows.acast.com/out-of-chara…

Happy Actual Star Wars Day Everyone!

I still can’t quite believe this happened. They say don’t meet your heroes but if all my heroes are anything like Peter then I have nothing to fear. He was incredibly warm, welcoming, witty, and immensely generous with his time. Give it a listen!
Fuck-A-Doodle Doo – It’s the Series Finale! Episode 78 with special guest, PETER SERAFINOWICZ ('The Peter Serafinowicz Show', 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Look Around You')! Alex spoke to Peter about AI, Archive, and Ants. What a way to wrap up Series 5! Enjoy! Funk Yeah!

The first Isolation Cinema of May - 3 horrors that were good, okay, and bad. But not in that order.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK (1989) - Now this is chilling! I found Nigel Kneale's adaptation quite disturbing. Horror nerds will know exactly the bit that really got me. It's a shame they didn't stick to the same ending as the play but I suppose that was due to time restraints. (YouTube)

THE WICKER MAN (2006) - This remake is bad. It's sadly not even so-bad-it's-good territory the way I was hoping, it's just bad. The new additions make no sense. The only good bits are 'HOW'D IT GET BURNED?!' and 'NOT THE BEES!' but those are just as funny outside the context.
