The only thing preventing true self serve analytics is a clean, well modeled data store with universally agreed upon metrics and definitions and users who only want the truth, not twisting data to only show why they want it to
Hegseth: “The only thing prohibiting transit in [Hormuz] right now is Iran shooting at shipping.” “It is open for transit should Iran not do that”

Information you get from torturing data, much like the info you get from torturing people, should not be trusted

You get 3 invoices over the next 6 months to pay for the same tee time and a dozen balls that you didn’t buy
United Healthcare guy takes over the PGA: “Hi, we’re here for our 10am tee time.” “We cancelled that. We didn’t think you needed it.”

Does anyone actually judge a book by its cover? The saying should be “don’t judge a wine by the bottle”. Plenty of people do that

Jiro Dreams of Sushi but for golf
How I was introduced to golf: - Spent the first 2 seasons with just a divot tool to ensure that I could properly fix pitch mark. - Next 2 seasons I got to learn how to rake bunkers. Since I was a quick study, I also got to start replacing my dad’s fairway divots. - After that I was allowed to mark balls on the green and maybe even hit a putt or two. - I was not given a bag and clubs until I fixed 6,700 pitch marks. - Once I got the bag and clubs I was not allowed to use them until I could play 18 in sub 3.5 hours and break 80. - Once I changed my shoes in the parking lot and was left to walk 25 miles home. This is how to properly introduce someone to the game. Shame it doesn’t happen anymore.

As someone who regularly works out in a gym, I would floss and do my taxes in an airport before working out there
Would you workout in a gym in the airport if they existed??

My one complaint when flying is that the person in crammed next to shoulder to shoulder for 3 hours doesn’t smell sweaty enough
Gyms are coming to airports… I had the privilege of spending time with @SecKennedy and @SecDuffy as the DOT announced a new initiative to bring gyms into U.S. airports. This is a $1B grant program that airports across the country can apply for to build real spaces for people to move while they travel. The problem is that airports, and travel in general, are one of the most sedentary experiences in American life. Think about it: the traffic getting there, the waiting, the long flights… hours and hours without movement. And we know that being sedentary is not good for us. Even 1 hour of inactivity can lead to vascular dysfunction at the level of the endothelium (PMID: 25137367, 27443851). And studies have shown that 2-3 hours of inactivity leads to a rise in inflammatory markers (PMID: 31562947, 22176839, 28323950). Imagine having a place to actually move your body before a flight or during a layover. This is the kind of change that can meaningfully improve health for millions of travellers. And the craziest part? This entire opportunity began from one story I posted in an airport. You never know who’s watching or where a simple idea can lead. Moments like this make me incredibly grateful, and remind me why this work matters. Every time you share a video or spread the message, it opens doors for conversations and initiatives like this - so thank you for your help. If you want a mini-gym in your airport, tag your local airport, tag Secretary Duffy (@SecDuffy), and share this with your friends and family. I've started by tagging the airports I frequent below. Please help us make mini-gyms in airports a reality in hundreds thousands of airports across the country! @iah @iflymia @flyLAXairport
