I don’t want to wildly speculate—McConnell may very well be “fine” and return to being a shell of himself in the Senate soon—but generally when your spokesperson only comments on the care you’re receiving, it’s not a great sign about your health

Longtime GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell, 84, has been admitted to the hospital. The cause of his hospitalization and condition are not known. cnn.it/49ZmhrC

I unfortunately have a fair amount of experience parsing these sort of statements from covering Dianne Feinstein, Eleanor Holmes Norton, and John Fetterman

Free idea for Knicks execs/flacks: Have the other members of JD & the Straight Shot call James Dolan and tell him they urgently need to record a new album. He has to be on the vocals right away. Keep that man in an undisclosed studio location for approximately one week

Let him sing a song about how Donald Trump didn't fall asleep during G3. Or a follow-up tune about how he regrets being friends with Harvey Weinstein. You just need to keep it in-house until the series is over.

The day before this article ran, Fetterman's chief of staff announced she was quitting. Two weeks later, Fetterman's Senior Adviser announced he was leaving. Fetterman is talking about Platner dick pics, but hasn't said a word about these texts, which he sent earlier this year

Guilty of tooting my own horn here, and not a critique of OP for quoting Fetterman's pet topic, but I would genuinely appreciate it if a DC reporter could instead ask Fetterman about revelations from my recent reporting (he ignored requests for comment) nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…
Fetterman still going about Platner, morning after his primary win: “You wanna talk about p-hustle? You wanna talk about p-hustle?” I barely walked into the building

Absolutely, New Yorkers currently love Donald Trump. The only thing that could change that is the Knicks losing to the Spurs
I don’t see a benefit of the President attending the Knicks game tonight. The knicks are on a 13 game playoff win streak. If they lose, they’ll blame it on the president. And if the Spurs come back and win it all, New Yorkers will never forgive him.

I just left a hipster coffee shop in Brooklyn. Everyone said they love Donald Trump unless the Knicks blow it tonight

Bobby Maggio, who’s worked for Fetterman for many years, is interim chief I’m told. He and David Safier—who staffers joked about being “chief”—are Fetterman’s remaining confidants

New: John Fetterman’s Senior Advisor, Cole Brown, is leaving the senator’s office. Two weeks ago, Chief of Staff Cabelle St. John also resigned.

I do not live in California anymore, but dear god do I still share Californians' frustration with how many Politics Knowers have amnesia every time they try to interpret the state's election results. Jungle primary! Votes tallied slowly!

Still lots of votes to be counted in the California governor's race, but Silicon Valley darling Matt Mahan is currently a distant fourth place in Santa Clara County; Mahan is the mayor of San Jose, which makes up roughly half of the total population of Santa Clara County

Here's how the Israeli Ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Leiter, speaks about Chuck Schumer's support for Israel, according to a senior staffer who attended a meeting between Leiter and John Fetterman last year
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer: I believe in the state of Israel. I support the state of Israel. If there had been a state of Israel in 1941, dozens of my ancestors would have been able to flee Nazi persecution.

from my recent report for New York mag: x.com/AlexShultz/status/2057…

New: I spoke to a dozen sources about John Fetterman's dwindling inner circle; his closest confidant is now an unpaid adviser named David Safier, who's jokingly referred to as "chief" by staffers. Fetterman's actual chief of staff quit yesterday nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

Senator John Fetterman is back to meme-posting about Israel. As I reported last week, Fetterman has almost no one left in his inner circle. His (unofficial, unpaid) top political adviser, David Safier, has glowingly referred to the senator as the "Secretary of Trolling."
