Love it when a Director doesn't let anything get in the way of his vision. Big HamaGUUCH has a spine.
FF7 Revelation Director Hamaguchi says in the newest VGC article that addressing all negative feedback, while also taking the positive feedback into account, may lead to a product that doesn't have any strong appeal.
He says specifically "if you were to address all the negative feedback, and even take the positive feedback into account, sometimes it’s a case that you’re seeing two sides of the extreme opinions, and by applying all of that, it’s possible that you come up with a product that doesn’t really have any character. It’s just a blank state that doesn’t really have any strong appeal."
He mentions they of course take the feedback from Rebirth into consideration, but despite the many mini-games in Rebirth that players complained about, Hamaguchi says Revelation has probably even more mini games than the previous game. However, you have the option of skipping them if you don't want to play them.
Aside from mini games, regarding keeping as many major scenes from the OG game as possible, Hamaguchi says "even for me personally, I might consider some things as less important, but fans might not think that way. So the goal is to keep as much as possible from the original."
