Cool, now WC Fantasy has it's own defcon equivalent
Roberston (5.0% at MD1 deadline, 4.9% at KO) got scouting bonus last night So as with FIFA Club World Cup fantasy, it seems that players who show as 5.0% ownership on the site / API will sometimes qualify (4.95%-4.99%) for scouting bonus, sometimes not (5.00%-5.04%). Fun! 😅

Constantly switching captains probably removes a bit of the skill element, but at the same time it's such a psychological rollercoaster. Every day you're making another big decision, knowing one wrong call can leave you with nothing by the end of the matchday. Really fun feature this.

After 2 blanks it's time to switch to the heavy artillery. Pretty confident with Wirtz, Curacao are compact and organised, so attackers who can create for themselves should do well. This World Cup has already got me a bit overstimulated and my sleep schedule is completely flekked. Felt like I was watching yesterday's matches with my eyes closed. Busy week ahead too, making my debut as a (trigger warning) expert on Singaporean television this week. Somehow people keep asking me for football opinions, so I'm pretty excited.

I asked 5 professional scouts and 5 performance analysts to predict the highest #WorldCupFantasy scorer in MD1. Scouts:🇨🇭 Ndoye ×2 🇳🇴 Haaland 🇩🇪 Musiala 🇦🇹 Sabitzer Analysts: 🇳🇴 Haaland ×2 🇨🇴 Diaz 🇦🇹 Posch 🇩🇪 Sane Almost everyone mentioned Dan Ndoye, but only 2 scouts were willing to pick him outright. The minutes risk is obvious, yet this may be the clearest MD1 mismatch and arguably the strongest tactical fit of the round. Qatar struggles when games become athletic and transitional. Opponents consistently hurt them with direct, vertical attacks through central channels and half-spaces. Ndoye's acceleration over medium distances is elite, and he thrives when attacking open space. Like Embolo, he makes aggressive central runs, but his far-post movement could make him even more dangerous in this specific matchup. Haaland received 3 votes. Teams facing Iraq regularly target a central striker with early deliveries into the box, prioritising direct progression over long build-up. Few teams concede chances through such a repeatable pattern. A penalty-box striker is the archetype you want against them. Sabitzer also received multiple mentions. Several analysts highlighted the value of 90-minute players against Jordan. While Arnautovic is appealing, Jordan frequently loses concentration after the 70th minute, leading to territorial collapse and a surge in second-ball opportunities. Sabitzer, or any reliable 90-minute midfielder, stands to benefit. Posch was another popular pick due to his tendency to exploit unusual attacking situations from deep areas.

Widmer benched. Glad I paid attention to the press conferences and went with the safer option.
Seeing a lot of people doubling or even tripling up on the Switzerland defence. I originally wanted at least 2 Swiss defenders myself, but I think I'll stop at Nico Elvedi. Kobel being out with illness isn't ideal, so I don't think you can fully rely on him or Mvogo right now. I'm also not convinced by Widmer or Rodriguez. The Switzerland coach has been very open about still being undecided on both his starting XI and whether he'll use a 4-3-2-1 or a back 3. The squad is carrying a number of minor injuries, he's spoken about being flexible, and has even hinted at some rotation against Australia. Akanji is still a solid option, but he'll likely end up over 5% owned. Elvedi should be lower-owned and arguably has the better chance of getting on the end of set pieces. PS: Murat Yakin also emphasised that he sees these friendlies as an opportunity to build fitness and give everyone minutes, so I wouldn't put too much weight on what we see against Jordan. #WorldCupFantasy

Good scores from my captains so far, but not great, so I'm switching again, this time to Nico Elvedi. Not expecting anything huge. Would've been nice to own Embolo or Ndoye, but you can't have them all :(

Krejci goal was nice, but I want at least 13-15 points from my captain, so I'm switching to Dest. Not expecting much from him, Paraguay play a bit like Getafe, lots of fouls, scrappy situations, plenty of low-quality shots, they still struggle to create clear chances, so IMO any USA defender feels fine this MD. Dest is potentially OOP scouting bonus appeal, so why not. I also think Katic from Bosnia is a great captaincy pick today. Just didn't go there because I'm on the MD2 Wildcard strategy.

World Cup Fantasy corners analysis: 🇵🇹Portugal play Congo, the team conceding the most corners in Africa. Nuno Mendes has taken only 3 fewer corners than Bruno Fernandes, yet nobody is really talking about it enough. 🇧🇪 Maxim De Cuyper plays for a very corners-heavy Belgium side. He took 11 corners for the national team over the season, a solid number, just completely overshadowed by De Bruyne's absurd volume. Still I expect him to take more with KDB's fitness still uncertain. 🇲🇦 If Morocco lose to Brazil, Hakimi becomes even better for MD2/3. Morocco then face the teams with the highest combined corner concessions, and Hakimi is on corners from both sides. MD3/4 could be huge for territorial dominance. 🇸🇪 Daniel Svensson (DEF!) & Yasin Ayari are Sweden's main corner takers. Mentioning them because somehow I've barely seen them included in set-piece threads. 🇧🇪 Kevin De Bruyne & 🇨🇴 James Rodríguez are elite picks for Set-Play xG creation. I am not really comfortable going without them. Feels like they’ll find a way to return points every single game. 🇨🇿 Czechia are also extremely corners-heavy. Coufal takes the majority, but it's worth noting that a large share is evenly distributed among 4 other players too. Krejci remains the main receiver regardless of how many aerial threats they have. Follow for more!

First MD1 captain locked🔒 Krejci is a unicorn, he has multiple routes to points: dominant aerial numbers in a set-piece oriented team, steps into midfield in certain phases & creating from open play. South Korea, get ready for Czech casting. #WorldCupFantasy

Really want to check the passing accuracy data. I've rarely seen two teams be this bad at the most basic aspects of the game...

Disappointing first half from Czechia so far. Stupidly aggressive, constantly trying to ping the ball into the final third, but their quality on the ball has been worse than South Africa's.
