Describe a time that you did something outside your comfort zone. Were you happy you did it afterwards?
Every day I leave the house, I am outside my comfort zone. When I interact with other humans, it’s outside my comfort zone. I prefer my own company most of the time, other peoples energy is overwhelming. But, I do it, every day. I ignore the knot in my stomach ache, leave the house, drive to work, help customers who can be nice or entitled assholes, and I come home with stories from the wild. It is therapy for my antisocial upbringing, where people were of little comfort for a frightened little girl.
In a strange way, it does make me happy, because I consider it personal growth. I’m coping with the discomfort with interactions and the occasional mistakes that would usually make me retreat back into my hole. I am learning to learn from the mistakes and not allow it to affect my self-esteem. I consider it a win.
