Starting Day 2 of OCEANOVATION with a session “Why building a world class company culture is crucial for your success” at our main stage with John Wedge Auckland, Natalie Gilson, Alice Driscoll, Mariska Van Ijzerloo 🤩
I was asked by the brilliant @Cristina_Loaiza from the @FUTURESnetwork to join her in a discussion about the relationship between confidence and career success where I (controversially?) propose confidence is a red herring...

There’s nothing quite like being 38 weeks pregnant in a heatwave and living next door to a constantly noisy building site whilst trying to race to deliver final projects for your clients.
I am having my second baby in August. That’s assuming I survive the heatwave. Sending nothing but 🙏🏻 and 🧊 to all the 3rd trimester mums out there right now.
Thank you @BetadenNorth for inviting me to run a resilience workshop for your cleantech founders at a time where supply chain and global economic challenges mean tapping into all available resources (inner and outer) is critical for survival.
Here are the reasons why women seek abortions. 40%: lack of financial resources; 31%: abusive/non-supportive partner; 19%: emotional/ mental health; 12% physical health; 12% “want a better life for the baby than she could provide”. 5% of all pregnancies are from rape #roevwade
You know the benefits of getting 1:1 performance feedback, but are your team investing in ongoing reflection and feedback about your collective performance?
Teams that do, outperform teams that don't.
Asking what are our good/bad day behaviours is a good place to start.
Timeline now full of women excited to see their company's IWD Tweet, and, therefore, @PayGapApp revealing if they've been screwed over or not. It's like Truth Christmas!
I am delighted and humbled to have been elected to the role of @WeAreTheMU General Secretary. It means a great deal that musicians across genres and disciplines have put their faith in me and I want nothing more than to deliver for you all.
Toxic behaviour in the workplace can be difficult to deal with — but it's necessary to do so.

My new website alicedriscoll.co is live. My brief: direct, energetic, results focused and looks nothing like a coaching website. I think the team nailed it.
Good decisions are not the same as good outcomes. You can have a really robust and thoughtful process but not every decision is going to be ‘right’ with hindsight.
It's only as recently as 2000, that a theory of female stress response was put forward, and several research studies have since backed up, that our stress response is more likely to be 'tend-and-befriend.
Unlike fight (aggression) or flight (flee the scene), tend-and-befriend is a social strategy response - a doubling down on bringing a network and community together to share and exchange resources and responsibilities and ensure any children are taken care of.
Whose feeling overwhelmed today?
If you’re adding to this anxiety by also shaming yourself for feeling overwhelmed in the first place (“I should be able to handle this!”) can I recommend we do something about that.
Why are we feeling overwhelmed right now?
These are the three most common reasons we might feel overwhelmed and all of these will be underscored to a degree by perfectionism and threats to our sense of identity and perceived value these projects/responsibilities bring.
Recognise that feeling overwhelmed, although pretty unpleasant, does not in and of itself prevent us from taking action.
Time to step back and reflect is a productive action because it allows us to identify root cause and generate a course of action that will actually work.
