If Andy Burnham became PM in the next few weeks would he offer resident docs more money to end strikes? Does this factor into the coming vote on Mr Murray's proposed deal?

What i am reading seems to be 6.6% pay increase from next April including whatever the DDRB recommends. Is this right?
1/ Personal view only, speaking as an LED doctor. I am not speaking on behalf of DAUK, the BMA or anyone else. I have had all night to think about the offer. There is a lot to like in it, especially for LEDs, but I remain reserved on the pay element.

No idea if this is what happened but suggests there are huge differences within the RDC.
Replying to @HaQ_mAn
I hope so. It looks to be an actual sub-inflationary pay offer dressed up with some portfolio baubles. More importantly, it was already rejected by RDC but the chair has pulled it back out after RDC censured him today (which is, by convention, cause for immediate resignation) and went behind the back of RDC to the BMA executive to ask for it to be put out (and lied about it being a last minute offer) in order to try and avoid having to resign. This is a non-pay-rise offer, and the 'new training jobs' are also a lie - the are just converted LED jobs.

Did not expect an improved offer from the gov to resident doctors looks quite decent but no commitment to pay restoration?

These sums are peanuts in the overall picture of government spending. Why is The Times singing to the TPA’s tune? Green quango funds balloon while health and defence cry for cash. thetimes.com/article/63605ed…

A friend of mine was due to have a hip replacement yesterday. She was prepped & ready to go to theatre only for it to be cancelled? Why was it cancelled? Because racist dickheads frightened so many staff they couldn't do the surgery. That is the hidden effects of their racism.

This is an absolutely shocking example of healthcare practitioners believing they were helping young people but actually exposing them to potential harm and substandard practice. 1/n surreysussex.icb.nhs.uk/down…

Taking responsibility for a patient from 480 miles away really stands out. As does the failure to refer to safeguarding. One point not fully explored in the report was that a third of the patients whose ethnicity was known were mixed race - seems extraordinarily high 2/n

These kids were failed by the practice but also by an NHS which had not offered the help and support they needed because of long waiting lists for specialist services. I hope they are getting appropriate input now. 3/3

Health sec @jamesmurray_ldn says "he cannot go further on pay" for resident doctors but he does want to talk about other changes to the deal urging the BMA to get back to talks.

A strong letter in today’s Times from the APPG for Patient Safety arguing that abolishing HSSIB and transferring its functions to CQC would be a backward step for patient safety. A view shared unanimously in patient safety circles. ā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļøā¬‡ļø thetimes.com/comment/letters…

A beast of a month for ambulance crews in May - category 2 response times were nearly 5 mins worse than the month before at 29m 13s and were also worse than May 2025. Hot weather and heavy demand.

The parallels with Germany in the 1930s are obvious. But then the government was at least complicit. On Belfast's streets, mobs burn immigrant homes in modern-day pogrom. thetimes.com/article/84bb01d…
