Announcing policy without a way to deliver on that policy does not make you effective.
Once again, the most effective democratic politician is a fucking socialist and that is not a coincidence

If Providence elects this ignorant fool, God help them.
Tonight, the Providence City Council will be voting to OVERRIDE the Mayor’s veto on Rent Stabilization. I commend every Councilor working to cap rent increases in support of our neighbors. As our next Mayor, I’m committed to signing Rent Stabilization into law and enforcing it!

Ignorant AND stupid:
It’s just not possible for Dems to accommodate the Abundance folks, who seek deregulatory policies for their developer/investor clients. I’m all for a big tent, but up until the point that accommodation starts to undermine progressive messaging. And that message is that we need a muscular government to curb the excesses of unfettered markets, concentrated wealth, and the attendant political corruption (aka oligarchy). Besides, there’s already a political party that stands for small government, low taxation on wealth/income, and deregulation. Why can’t the Abundance folks just align naturally over there?

If what we saw last year wasn’t an aberration, then the expectation would be that Shedeur would struggle if given the opportunity to play.
Emory Hunt of CBS Sports predicts a big season for the Browns, backing Shedeur Sanders to win the starting job and lead Cleveland to potential double-digit wins. "I am of the mindset that Shedeur's going to win out this battle. He's going to start, and what we saw last year wasn't an aberration—it was a sign of things to come. He was 3-4 as a starter last year. He should've been 5-2. Now, you add all of that talent that they got in free agency and in the draft with a guy that has confidence and feeding off this positive energy, the Browns could win 10 games. All is well in Cleveland." (via @365sportsYT)

The ignorant have found their queen!
Proud to be the first candidate in NYC to call for a rent freeze. And a whole lot more.

If housing is a human right, why does this apparently deeply confused organization constantly push for policy that results in less housing availability, lower housing quality, higher market rents, and more homelessness?

Simple solution: end rent controls.
NY completely failed its tenants by allowing landlords to destabilize rent stabilized units with bullshit claims. I’ve seen it first hand and even when caught they are not reprimanded

Problem with your argument is 800k of the ~960k RS units are privately owned &unsubsidized so there’s no ability for govt to dictate who can or can’t rent them. So if you attach means testing to RS, the result will be owners only renting to those who don’t qualify for RS.

Why are people arguing for a Shedeur Sanders to start after being a late round pick who played poorly as a rookie in an extended opportunity and even was outplayed by the team’s other rookie QB? It’s not “hate”. When you make a nonsensical argument, it’s just easily refutable.
Way better than last year I can say that with confidence!

Today is the four year anniversary of Rex Chapman on CBS talking about Pete Gillen’s death during March Madness. One problem: Pete Gillen is alive and was working for CBS during the segment.

“Speaking about the play”? I don’t think anyone claimed he never understood a defense, but he clearly struggled to read them consistently.

Jason said Shedeur didn’t watch much film. Jason said he needed to be taught how to watch film (no big deal). Jason said he struggled to read defenses. If we watched the games, we already knew that. @_itsjustmimi_

Made up titles for everyone!
I wanted to share an update with you. I’ve decided to take on an important role in the new @ZohranKMamdani administration as Deputy Communications Director of Economic Justice. I’m stepping into this role at a moment when affordability is the city’s defining challenge. In City Hall’s communications team, my focus will be on listening to New Yorkers and connecting their lived experience to how this administration is using governing power – across economic policy, consumer and worker protections, and a more serious approach to building and development – to bring down the cost of living and ensure dignity. I’m excited and honored to be stepping into this role at a moment when governing power for working and middle class people is urgently needed. I believe deeply in the direction of this administration and in the work ahead. 🗽

Oops!
Montgomery County has suffered under four quarters of rent control, and the effects are bleak: nearly a 100% drop in quarterly multifamily permits. While nearby metropolises grow, rent control has choked MoCo’s housing market: montgomeryperspective.com/20…

Cea Weaver’s “tireless advocacy” to pass such disastrous legislation was bad enough. That she hasn’t learned from that mistake makes this new appointment that much more problematic.
Cea Weaver is an excellent choice to lead the revitalized Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants. I witnessed her tireless advocacy on behalf of New Yorkers and tenants firsthand in Albany, where her efforts were critical to the passage of the historic 2019 Housing Stability & Tenant Protection Act. She is principled, dedicated, and unwavering in her commitment to working people. That’s the real record.

If it were capitalist, the owner would be allowed to seek what the market dictates. The rent is <$1k/mo, well under the operating cost alone. When you don’t fund housing, it deteriorates or becomes unavailable altogether.

Means test how? The vast majority of these units receive no subsidy, & there is no basis upon which govt could restrict certain tenants from renting the units.

This is simply false. While rent stabilized rents have failed to keep up with inflation let alone costs to offer them, a defunding that drives the deterioration & unavailability of those units, that growing shortage has meant faster growing rents for the larger # in market rate.
Eric Adams term has been a housing disaster for NYC. Both rent stabilized tenants and market rate tenants have seen their rents skyrocket. It’s part of the reason NYC voters tossed him out. Doesn’t feel politically smart to emulate his approach and staffing.
