Just attended the #CalmingRooms session @4csla with @techamys & @TMS_Counselor SO great for my high school! The biggest @instagram response I ever got was for our library’s #QuietArea , where kids can be alone: no groups, no talking. Kids need a place to #CalmDown #DigCitSummit

I began reading this & thought, “Oh great—yet another angsty teen whining🙄” But it’s so much more. James, who suffers from #depression, is socially awkward & in love with Walt Whitman’s poetry & Beth—editor of the school’s poetry review. Funny, beautiful, & important.

A short but intense allegory about the monsters masquerading as angels who live and work in our own #neighborhoods This acclaimed novel by @azemezi is definitely politically left-leaning, but teaches us ALL valuable lessons about being #aware , and the power of asking for help❤️

Though the storyline is predictable, @davidyoon ‘s irrepressible & realistic characters are anything but. Frank Li is in love with a white classmate, but his parents insist he date a #Korean girl. This @cyrmaward nominee was also named one of Time’s 100 Best YA Books. #Romance ❤️

Living in the Appalachias at the turn of the last century, Julie has been doing a man’s work since she was a child & her dad became ill. When she marries spoiled Hank , she learns that no amount of hard work can save a bad marriage. A sparse & heartbreaking story. Thanks @Oprah !
