Istanbul Bilgi University, the place where I started my academic career as a 24-year old teaching assistant in 1995 and worked for 15 years, was shut down by a presidential decree overnight - without any reason or justification. 20,000 students and 1,000 employees not knowing what to do, where to go. Oh, and the same day the "presidential" courts started the process of shutting down the main opposition party. Students do not need a better-lit reflection of themselves. They need exposure to people who know things they don’t, see things they miss, and may even be wrong in useful ways.
