#EarthDay celebrations and activism grew over the years and by the 20th anniversary, world wide participation skyrocketed. In 1995, President Clinton recognized Senator Nelson’s achievements and presented him with the Presidential Medal!

#EarthDay was first celebrated April 22, 1970. Thanks to the 20 million participants across the U.S., #EarthDay pushed the government to create the @EPA which helps tackle environmental issues!
