Sometimes I draw. If you're in the Brisbane area and would like to see, I have an exhibition up in the Uncommon Ground cafe (inside Urban Climb West End) on Montague Rd :) Should be up for at least a month!

Finding it very hard not to dive into deep R rabbit holes while writing first year learnR content 😅 But if I include THIS then I also need to add THAT somewhere else! 🤷‍♀️

Collaborating across the Pacific Ocean in a pandemic isn't easy, which is why we're EXTRA stoked to have our joint @PICRCPalau-@wcsfiji-@QUT-@aims_gov_au reef project recognised by #APSEA industry awards! Looking forward to when @yashu_12 @smangubhai @gr_tedi can be in the photo!

How is it that 18 months after my first, and only, ever lecturing role (in a field I don't work or study in, with 0XP) I am still getting (now graduate) students approach me and say I was the best lecturer they ever had? Where is the bar for higher education? #notabrag #concern

i wish mainstream body positivity focused less on “every body looks good” and more on “your body does not exist for the purpose of being looked at”

An excerpt from Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez published in 2020 on the myth of meritocracy
Give a data girl a psychiatric condition that changes through time and she will give you data on a coarse "mood grid". This is what my bipolar has looked like since the beginning of the year. Pls predict my next episode. #rstats #mentalhealth

For reference, the episodes so far have been January (high) and April (low) and I'd consider an episode to be three or more consecutive days in the extreme, plus more episodic days clustered around that time.

3 days of mania/depression is not "clinically" considered an episode, but the data may unintentionally be slightly biased by my little friend denial.

This is an excellent thread outlining some really great things that can be done to make University more accessible to people with disabilities, in particular those with vision impairments.
Thread: This is a non-exhaustive list of the ways lecturers at @UniversityLeeds have made my experience as a blind student the best it's ever been. We talk about how bad higher education is for disabled students, and it's true. But there are good people out there.
