Nicky Quaid made an outstanding save, rose slowly to his feet
rather than celebrating or showing emotion, immediately went back into problem-solving mode.
He glanced around at his defenders
paused for a moment as if gathering his thoughts
delivered a few calm words #leadership
Numbers never tell the whole story, but they can sometimes help explain part of it. A look at the four teams through some key process measures from the Provincial Finals.
The numbers suggest there is almost nothing between Cork and Limerick.
But game day writes new statistics.
Looking forward to what promises to be an epic contest.
IT PROMISES TO BE EPIC.
The numbers suggest Cork and Limerick are operating at virtually the same level.
One puckout.
Two shots.
Four percent.
Separated by nothing.
DIFFERENT ROADS. SAME DESTINATION.
16 Teams Remain. One Championship. Everything Still to Play For.
Glance back. Learn. Move on.
The windscreen is bigger than the rear-view mirror for a reason. The road ahead matters most.
Hi Matt @cooper_m
you asked a question on the show this evening that I’ve often wondered about myself.
I grew up in Finglas through the 60s, 70s and 80s and remember strong communities constantly being built around us.
I did a bit of searching afterwards and here’s what I found
Cork look to be becoming more stable in their “battle rhythm” rather than simply better. Scoring is rising, while shooting accuracy remains almost identical. That suggests Cork are creating more chances, sustaining pressure longer and generating cleaner attacking ball.
Just a very simple rough draft for juvenile coaches and players.
Nothing revolutionary
just trying to give young players a simple picture of effort, discipline and team defending.
A rough draft at “Field Control Principles” for Hurling.

Protect The Goal
Modern defending in hurling 🤔
Maybe it’s about
controlling striking conditions
protecting central space
forcing rushed decisions
Not the finished article
Gaelic Football: A rough draft at an
“Out of Possession” framework for Football.
The best defensive teams seem to:
• protect central space
• slow or delay transition
• force lower-value shots
• dictate where the game is played
Not perfect.
Just a rough draft of an idea 💡

I’m starting to wonder if modern defending is becoming about far more than just stopping players.
Maybe it’s also about controlling the picture
This is an early front-end “Game Intelligence” visual designed to give coaches a simple,
fast reference point during breaks in play via iPad / Tablet
The objective is not to overload coaches with data, but to present the key indicators that most influence performance (contd)
between coaches and analysts so that information is delivered consistently, calmly and in a way that genuinely helps decision-making during the game rather than distracting from it.
The aim is simple:
provide coaches with clearer visibility of the game as it unfolds.
