This is what I’m talking about; 1️⃣ Adikiny reads Nana Kusi's pass to Brian Musa and intercepts. 2️⃣ Drives forward aggressively from midfield. 3️⃣ With Kapaito sandwiched by Abud Omar & Charles Ouma, he uses him as a decoy. 4️⃣ Delays the release, waiting for Ian Simiyu to overlap on the left. 5️⃣ Tees him up for a beautiful finish. #FootballKE
I watched the FKF Cup final between Tusker FC and Kenya Police in Kwale, and for me, the Brewers' opening goal was a masterclass in football intelligence from Fabian Adikiny. Driving the ball forward from midfield during a quick transition, Adikiny initially had the option to feed a centrally positioned Erick Kapaito. However, Police FC defenders Charles Ouma and Abud Omar tracked Kapaito’s run perfectly. Recognizing this, Adikiny brilliantly used Kapaito as a decoy; he intentionally delayed his pass, waiting for Ian Simiyu to join the attacking before teeing up the unmarked forward, who swept it home beautifully with his left foot. #FootballKE

A worthy read, 7 assists from the flanks is quite something. I would love to know the volume of crosses Kinyanjui managed to have across the league. If we have to check his expected assists (xA), I believe he tops the list.

I've seen Belgium deploy the same principle, kwa hi game vs Egypt. Doku almost scored btw.
Youri Tielemans' goal is a carbon copy of the principles Gor Mahia employ when attacking their long throw-ins. IYKYK. #FootballKE

Very few players in world football can receive the ball in that position and end up playing a forward pass. Most midfielders now are coached to bounce that ball back to the GK or one of the CBs. Important to know your teammates. Who you can and can't play to in that situation.

Poor restart there. The first aim of any restart is to get away from pressure, but they've played straight into trouble. #FootballKE

Out of possession, their defensive strategy was anchored by a high zonal 4-2-3-1 press that seamlessly shifted into a high-man-oriented press when opponents attempted to build from their own six-yard box. #FootballKE articles.dcanalytics.co.ke/a…
